THE DEAL
Following its financing of the purchase of
Powell Duffryn Plc, NPIL announced plans
to dispose of the Group's engineering
interests.
In September 2001, an agreement with
Gardener Denver Inc. was completed
for the disposal of Hamworthy Bellis &
Morcom (HBM) for £26 million.
THE NPIL DIFFERENCE NPIL brought the management teams and
advisers together and worked with them
to develop, plan and execute the disposal
across several different jurisdictions.
We played a central role in selecting
the disposal strategies; overseeing
the management of the process;
and supporting final negotiations
to completion.
THE BUSINESS
HBM manufactures lubricated and
oil-free reciprocating air compressors.
The products have a wide variety of
applications, but centre around the
manufacture of compressors for use in oil-free
technology in the beverage and food
packaging industry. HBM also provides
breathing air equipment; equipment used
to separate air into its constituent gases;
and equipment used in the process, oil
and petrochemicals industries. For
example, in the fast growing markets of
compressed natural gas.
HBM had reported revenue of
approximately £39 million (FY 2001).
